We're back! Our everyday work life between the digital and the real world!
Hi everyone,
we actually had a blog like this many, maaaany years ago – but somehow it got pushed to the back burner as other things took over. Ever since, we've been wanting to start fresh, because there's always so much to share. But as life goes, it kept getting postponed...and now we're finally doing it!
As luck would have it, I (Rosalie) am currently basically voiceless "thanks" to a cold, so Sindu and I can only communicate in writing anyway. That's when it hit me: "If I can only write right now, this is the perfect moment to finally bring the blog back to life."
In this blog, we want to share more with you going forward: about our day-to-day work, our Luanimals, the sewing patterns, sewing tips, and of course life between Mexico and Germany. We always love getting questions about any of these topics!
This year, we were back in Dortmund at the Creativa, Europe's largest creative fair. Those fair days are long and exhausting – but the exchange with other creative minds, whether customers or fellow exhibitors, always gives you so much back. We got to see many familiar faces, were shown quite a few self-sewn Luanimals, and most of all made some wonderful new connections. Sindu, in true spontaneous fashion, sew a XXXXXXL Elephant Eli in pink just a few days before – and it was an absolute showstopper. To pull off this maxi project, Snaply kindly provided us with a gorgeous fabric – a huge thank you for that! :)

Shortly after, we also released our first adult pattern: none other than Elephant Eli. Over the past 15 years we've made Luanimals animals in adult sizes quite a few times. Sindu gave this "old" pattern a little update – it's now a bit more modern, more relaxed, and thanks to the fit also completely unisex. Our test sewers were already thrilled, and so quite a few Elis have already hopped off the needle.
If you're on Instagram, you may have already spotted some self-sewn pieces – and also noticed that @luanimalsfashion is now @luanimals.family... and a second account @luanimals.diy has appeared. Why?
Because @luanimals.family fits so much better with what we do and what we stand for…but more on that later. And what about @luanimals.diy?
That account exists now, so we can share your Luanimals creations spontaneously and collaborate on your posts without planning too much ahead. So we'd love to invite you to tag us there and invite us to collaborate: whether it's a finished animal or a work in progress, as a story or a reel. We want to grow this into a real community account – a place where everyone can inspire and connect with each other.
Right now we're working on a new Luanimals animal and also getting ready for our next trade fair: from 15–17 May 2026 you can find us at the Nadelwelt in Karlsruhe. Who's coming?
We can't wait to hear from you or see you at the fair! Let's see if we can fit our XXXXXL Eli into the booth again…what do you think?
Lots of love and Saludos,
Sindu and Rosalie
