Our clothing and sewing patterns are instantly recognizable thanks to their eye-catching animal designs, created with great attention to detail, and our own concept that we developed more than 15 years ago. We combine comfortable clothing for children and adults with lovingly designed animal appliqués and colorful fabrics, making every garment something special.
The digital sewing patterns and paper sewing patterns available at Luanimals are the very same patterns we have been using ourselves to sew and sell clothing for more than 15 years. This means you benefit from tried-and-tested patterns that have proven themselves in practice and have been sewn countless times.
Another advantage is that all of our sewing patterns can be made with or without the animal appliqués. This makes them suitable for different skill levels, from complete beginners to experienced hobby sewists. By choosing your own fabrics and colors, you can customize every sewing project to create something truly unique.

Which Animal Sewing Patterns and Animal Designs Are Available?
At Luanimals, you'll find a wide selection of animal motifs for children's and adult clothing. These include elephants, sharks, dinosaurs, flamingos, dogs, cats, ducks, unicorns, and many other animals.
The sewing patterns are available as digital sewing patterns and paper sewing patterns and can be used for highly individual, personalized sewing projects.
Our range is regularly expanded, meaning we are always working on new animals, so you can always discover new animal motifs as ready-made garments or as sewing patterns for your self-sewn clothes.
Are the animal designs suitable for boys and girls?
Absolutely!
All of our patterns are designed as unisex styles, and our animal designs are intentionally created without being tied to a specific gender. Your choice of fabrics and colors allows you to customize every design to suit your own style.
Whether it's a pink dinosaur, blue flamingos, or a brightly colored elephant, there are no rules—only creativity. The result is unique, colorful clothing that children and adults alike can enjoy.
Size & Fit
How do the sizes run?
Our sizes are based on the age of the children, so you can quickly and easily find your way around. For baby bodysuits, we indicate sizes in months, while for children's shirts and sweaters, we base them on years. The clothing sizes are always listed in addition. Since our Luanimals are often bought as gifts, and one often doesn't know exactly how tall/small a child is, this provides a helpful guide for clothing sizes.
Since every child grows individually, our patterns and sewing instructions include detailed size charts for size determination. This way, you can choose the right size either based on body measurements or by comparing it with a well-fitting garment. If you are unsure, we will be happy to help you personally with the selection. In that case, just write to us :)
What sizes are included in the patterns?
Our children's sewing patterns include six sizes (double sizes) from 86 to 152, covering approximately ages one to ten.
Our adult sewing patterns are also available in six sizes, XS to XXL.

Which size should I choose if my child is between two sizes?
If your child is between two sizes, we generally recommend choosing the larger size. This way, they can grow into and out of it, and the garment can usually be worn longer and offers sufficient freedom of movement. Thanks to the use of stretchy jersey fabrics, the garments always remain comfortable, pleasant to wear, and, above all, easy to care for!

What exactly is included in the sewing patterns?
Paper pattern (by mail): Our paper patterns include a large pattern sheet with all sizes, including seam allowance, as well as an illustrated step-by-step sewing guide. The pattern sheet and sewing instructions are in German. In addition, you will find helpful information on sizing, fabric consumption, as well as practical tips and tricks for fabric selection, processing jersey fabrics, and appliquéing animal motifs.
eBook for download: Our digital patterns contain all the content of the paper pattern, but in German, English, and Spanish, and also various file formats for different working methods. You receive the pattern as an A4 file and US Letter file for home printing, as an A0+ file for plotting in a copy shop, and as a projector file for direct cutting on fabric. All files are equipped with a layer function, so that only the size/sizes you need can be selected. This makes the pattern sheet much clearer and more organized.
In addition, our e-books contain plotter and cutter files for various details of the animal motifs.
Does the pattern already include the seam allowance (SA)?
Yes! With all Luanimals patterns (whether paper patterns or eBooks), the seam allowance is already included wherever it is needed. You can therefore cut out the pattern pieces directly and start sewing immediately. This makes it easier for sewing beginners to get started, as no additional calculations or adjustments are necessary.
Which files do I receive when I purchase an eBook?
After purchase, you will receive a ZIP folder with all the necessary files for your sewing project. It includes the sewing pattern as an A4 file and US letter file for home printing, an A0+ file for plotting at a copy shop, and a projector file for cutting directly on the fabric. All files are equipped with a layering function, so that only the size/sizes you need can be selected. This makes the pattern sheet much clearer and more manageable.
Additionally, our e-books contain plotter and cutter files for various details of the animal motifs (such as eyes, teeth, etc.).
Fabrics & Sewing
What fabrics are Luanimals sweaters and shirts made of?
We manufacture all our Luanimals and Luanimals accessories from high-quality cotton jersey. This fabric consists of 95% cotton and 5% elastane. This makes the garments particularly soft, skin-friendly, comfortable, and easy to care for.
Which fabrics are recommended for Luanimals sewing patterns?
For our patterns, we recommend the same fabric we use for our own clothing: cotton jersey. We've had particularly good experiences with jersey made of about 95% cotton and 5% elastane. It's pleasantly soft, stretchy, easy to care for, and offers great freedom of movement – an important advantage, especially for children's clothing.
Our patterns are also excellently suited for using fabric scraps or fabrics from beloved clothes that have become too small. These can be repurposed as appliqués or small details in an upcycling project, thus getting a new life.
Sustainability has always played an important role at Luanimals. We make sure to use existing resources as effectively as possible and to create long-lasting products. That's why our garments are designed to be worn for as long as possible, and our patterns offer many possibilities for creatively incorporating even small fabric scraps.
Luanimals is the exact opposite of fast fashion. We focus on sustainability, longevity, and timeless designs that will bring you joy for a long time.
Can I sew the patterns with a regular sewing machine?
Yes! All Luanimals sewing patterns can be sewn with a standard household sewing machine. The only important thing is that your sewing machine has an elastic stitch so that the seams can move with stretchy fabrics like jersey.
However, we recommend using an overlock machine if one is available. An overlock machine sews, finishes, and trims the fabric edge in one step, ensuring particularly neat, professional, and durable seams. Especially for garments that are frequently worn, stretched, and washed – such as children's clothing – this can further improve durability.
Nevertheless, an overlock machine is not a prerequisite. Our sewing patterns can also be easily made with a standard household sewing machine. With a suitable jersey needle and an elastic stitch, you can achieve stable and beautiful results.

How much does shipping cost?
Within Germany, shipping for an order with one item costs €3.99. For two or more items, shipping is €6.49. For orders over €100, shipping within Germany is free.
For international orders, we charge a flat shipping fee of €9.99. Here too, shipping costs are waived for orders over €100.
