We're back! Life between the digital world and the real one
Hi everyone,
Years ago, we already had a blog, but other tasks kept pulling focus and it slowly slipped into the background. We kept telling ourselves we'd start it up again, since there's always something worth sharing. But you know how it goes, it kept getting pushed to "next month." Well, here we finally are.
As it happens, I (Rosalie) am currently more or less voiceless thanks to a cold, so writing is pretty much the only way Sindu and I can talk to each other right now anyway. Which got me thinking: if I can only write, this is exactly the moment to bring the blog back to life.
Going forward, this is where we'll tell you more about our everyday work, our Luanimals, our sewing patterns, sewing tips, and of course life between Mexico and Germany. If you ever have questions about any of it, we'd love to hear them.
This year, we were back at Creativa in Dortmund, Europe's biggest creative fair. Trade fair days are long and exhausting, but the time with other creative people, whether customers or fellow exhibitors, always gives back more than it takes. We ran into a lot of familiar faces, got to see some hand-sewn Luanimals in person, and made some wonderful new connections. For the occasion, Sindu sewed a pink XXXXXXL Elefant Eli fairly last-minute, just days before the fair, and it was an absolute showstopper. A big thank-you to Snaply for providing the fabric that made this maxi-project happen.
Shortly after, we launched our first sewing pattern for adults: Elefant Eli, of course. Over the past 15 years, we've made Luanimals pieces in adult sizes now and then, but Sindu gave this old pattern a proper update. It's more modern now, a little more relaxed, and fits unisex. Our test sewers loved it, and quite a few Elis have already come off the machine.
If you're on Instagram, you may have already spotted some hand-sewn pieces and noticed that @luanimalsfashion is now @luanimals.family, and that a second account, @luanimals.diy, has shown up. Why?
Because @luanimals.family fits so much better with what we do and what we stand for, more on that soon. And @luanimals.diy?
That account is where you can share your Luanimals creations, spontaneously and without any pressure. Tag us there, we'd love to see your work: finished animals, projects still in progress, stories, reels, all of it. We want it to grow into a real community space, somewhere to inspire each other and swap ideas.
Right now, we're working on a new Luanimals animal and getting ready for our next fair: from May 15 to 17, 2026, you'll find us at Nadelwelt in Karlsruhe. Who's coming?
